ORDINANCE NO. 11 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK <br />DEFERRING ITS GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION TO THE DATE OF THE STATEWIDE <br />GENERAL ELECTION <br />WHEREAS, the California Legislature has, authorized <br />cities to hold their general municipal elections on the same day <br />as the Statewide General Election; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines <br />that it is in the best interests of voters of the City of <br />Moorpark to defer its General Municipal Election to the day of <br />the Statewide General Election; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />MOORPARK DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1 - The City's General Municipal Election <br />shall be deferred to the date of the Statewide General <br />Election in accordance with the provisions of Elections Code <br />Section 2601 and Sections 35443, 36503 and 36503.5 of the <br />Government Code. <br />SECTION 2 - That pursuant to the requirements of <br />Section 36503.5 of the Government Code the Board of Supervisors <br />of the County of Ventura is hereby requested to consent and <br />approve the consolidation of the election. <br />SECTION 3 - Said Board of Supervisors is hereby <br />requested to issue instructions to the County Clerk of <br />Ventura County to take any and all steps necessary for the <br />holding of said consolidated election. <br />SECTION 4 - That pursuant to the requirements of <br />Section 36503.5(d), within thirty (30) days after this <br />Ordinance becomes operative, the City Clerk shall cause a <br />Notice to be mailed to all registered voters informing them <br />of the change in the election date. Said Notice shall also <br />inform the voters that as a result of the change in the <br />election date, elected City officeholders' terms in office <br />will be extended and that no terms shall be decreased. <br />
