CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORTe- Fe a _ 1992
CITY OF MOORPARK A, AJvoLA _
ion A6.98-11t33
-
TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: Mary K. Lindley, Director of Community Services V Y
DATE: January 26, 1998 (City Council Meeting of February 4, 1998)
SUBJECT: Consider Resolution No. 98 -_, Amending the FY 1997/98 Budget by
Appropriating Park Improvement Funds (Fund 212) for the Installation of a
Fence at the Community Center Park
Discussion
The City Council is being asked to consider and approve a recommendation from the Parks and
Recreation Commission to appropriate funds from the Park Improvement Fund (212) - Zone 1 for
the installation of a fence at the Community Center Park. It is estimated that the fence will cost
$5,000.
At its January 5, 1998, meeting, the Commission voted to recommend the installation of a fence
near the front perimeter of the park, running parallel to Moorpark Avenue. This Community
Center Park is heavily used by children living in the nearby neighorhood and visitation to the
Lirbrary and City Hall. To reduce the potential for a future accident involving a child who may
run into traffic, the idea of installing a fence was suggested. This action would be similar to the
action the City Council approved for Tierra Rejada Park, which resulted in additional fencing in
that Park, parallel to Mountain Trail Street.
It is proposed that the fence would match the existing wrought iron fence around the Park's tot -
lot. To proceed with the project, the Council needs to appropriate monies from the Park
Improvement Fund for Zone 1 (includes the Community Center Park) to an appropriate capital
expenditure account. The fund balance for Zone 1, as of December 31, 1997, is $333,566.
Recommendation (Roll Call Vote)
The Parks and Recreation Commission recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No.
98- , amending the FY 1997/98 budget by appropriating Park Improvement Funds (Fund 212)
for the installation of a fence at the Community Center Park.
