TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: Kenneth C. Gilbert, Director of Public Works
DATE: March 9, 1998 (Council Meeting 3- 18 -98)
SUBJECT: Consider a Resolution No. 98- Establishing Parking
Restrictions on Portions of High Street West of Moorpark
Avenue
DISCUSSION
High Street, west of Moorpark Avenue, is only thirty feet (30')
wide from the south curbface to the curb or structures located on
the north side of the street. This street dimension is not wide
enough to accommodate two lanes of traffic when cars are parked on
both sides of the street.
This street incurred some damage during the recent storms. During
the response and repair activities, it became clear that the width
of the street was inadequate. NO STOPPING ANYTIME signs were
placed on the south side of the street to resolve this potential
safety problem.
It is recommended that the attached resolution be adopted to
officially enact the above - described recently posted parking
restrictions.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 98 -_
establishing parking restrictions on a portion of High Street.
