Testimony by Mayor at State Senate Revenue and Taxation
Committee Hearing
Discussion: On April 15 the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee is scheduled to
hold hearings on SB 2001 and SB 1723 which would eliminate the Vehicle License Fees.
For the City of Moorpark this would represent a loss of more than $1.1 million which is 23%
of the City's discretionary General Fund revenue. Mayor Hunter is proposing to testify at
the Revenue and Taxation Committee hearing against the proposed legislation. The
Mayor is requesting Council's concurrence with his testifying.
Recommendation: That the City Council support the Mayor's testimony at the Senate
Revenue and Taxation Committee in opposition to the reduction in Vehicle License Fees.
