MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT TO: Honorable City Council FROM: Ron Ahlers, Finance Director DATE: 09/05/2018 Regular Meeting SUBJECT: Resolution Amending the Fiscal Year 2018/2019 Budget to Appropriate $128,189 for the Cost of Living Adjustment for City Staff BACKGROUND On June 20, 2018, the City Council approved an amended salary plan that incorporated a two percent (2%) cost-of-living salary increase for the Hourly and Non-Competitive Service positions (Resolution 2018-3717). On August 15, 2018, the City Council approved an amended salary plan that incorporated a two percent (2%) cost-of-living salary increase for the Competitive Service positions consistent with the two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 (Resolution 2018-37xx). DISCUSSION The attached resolution appropriates funding for the two percent cost of living salary increase for city staff for FY 2018-19. FISCAL IMPACT The adopted FY 2018-19 budget contained a General Fund surplus in the amount of $128,945. The FY 2018-19 total for the cost of living adjustment is $128,189 from all funds. Item: 10.H. 183 RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - ____ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2018/2019 OPERATING AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET TO INCREASE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT WHEREAS, on June 20, 2018 the City Council adopted the Operating and Capital Improvement Budget for FY 2018/2019; and WHEREAS, a staff report has been presented to the Council requesting approval of the budget amendment for the Cost of Living Adjustment for city staff; and WHEREAS, Exhibit “A” hereof describes said budget amendments and the resultant impact to the budget line items. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. A budget amendment appropriating $128,189 for FY 2018/2019 as more particularly described in Exhibit “A”, attached hereto, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original resolutions.
