CITY OF MOORPAIM CALIFORNIA AGENDA REPORT City Council Meeting 4 1 TY OF MOORPARK TO: The Honorable City Council ACTION: hdc F R('Se No.gp, -1 q 24 FROM: Kenneth C. Gilbert, Director of Public Works DATE: June 19, 1998 (Council Meeting 7- 1 -98fY: T SUBJECT: Consider Resolution No. 98 -T Establishing Parking Restrictions on Maureen Lane South of Los Angeles Avenue With the completion of the newly constructed street improvements on Maureen Lane south of Los Angeles Avenue, drivers tend to not want to drive over the new asphalt "roll- curbs" and thus park their vehicles entirely on the pavement. The pavement width on Maureen Lane is only twenty -four feet (241) wide. This pavement width is too narrow for vehicles to park on both sides of the street and still provide enough pavement width to allow two -way traffic. In order to improve public safety in this neighborhood, it is recommended that the parking of vehicles entirely on the pavement be prohibited by installing signs similar to the diagram attached as Exhibit 1. This matter was discussed by the Transportation and Streets Committee at their meeting on May 26th. No action was taken. All of the property owners and residents on Maureen Lane were notified by mail of the subject proposed action and invited to provide comments. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 98- _ prohibiting parking on Maureen Lane except with right wheels off - pavement. nauren.prk mm 1= Ili - _ 1CJo i Iu Ej F1 o _1 i I L it SMI USMNI Zbwnz Wb'OT:E)O 86, Si Wnf CIL it RESOLUTION NO. 98 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, RESTRICTING PARKING ON MAUREEN LANE WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) allows for the establishment of parking restrictions on any local street; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that, in order to better provide for traffic safety, it is necessary to establish certain parking restrictions on certain local streets.
