SUBJECT: CONSIDER RESOLUTION NO. 98- APPROVING THE
CITY'S SUPPORT OF DESIGNATING THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATIVE - VENTURA COUNTY AS THE
COUNTYWIDE FILM LIAISON SERVING VENTURA COUNTY.
BACKGROUND: The California Film Commission was established
by the State to promote filming in the State. It partners
with local jurisdictions to assist with matters related
with filming and production. The Economic Development
Collaborative - Ventura County is seeking designation as
Ventura County's countywide film liaison by the California
Film Commission. In this role it will serve as a
clearinghouse for production companies and help direct
filming leads to participating local jurisdictions.
DISCUSSION: The Economic Development Collaborative -
Ventura County (EDC -VC) has asked the City of Moorpark to
join in its effort to be named a Film Liaison by the
California Film Commission. As an economic development
organization, the EDC -VC is in a position to assist local
jurisdictions in attracting filming and production to their
cities with resultant economic benefits. By joining other
cities in this program Moorpark would benefit from having a
centralized point for inquiries, coordination between
jurisdictions, and information programs offered by EDC -VC.
As part of the participation in the film liaison program,
the City's policies for filming and its film permit will be
reviewed by the California Film Commission on an advisory
basis only. There is no cost to the City for participating
