Traffenstedt, City Clerk Lisa Pope, Deputy City Clerk. rk4, DATE: December 8, 1998 (CC Meeting of 121/16/98) SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS TO THE BUDGET CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND EXTENDING APPLICATION PERIOD BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION The Budget Citizens Advisory Committee is a newly created committee. Applications are due on December 17, 1998. To encourage a broader selection of applications from the community, it is suggested that non - residents, such as individuals who own or operate a business within the City, be allowed to apply for the committee. Allowing a broader representation for this committee is consistent with the process followed for the Downtown Advisory Committee. The Council directed that appointments be made to the Budget citizens Advisory Committee at the January 6, 1999 City Council meeting. Another item on this agenda discusses the possibility of calling a recess for the January 6, 1999 meeting. Therefore, it is suggested that appointments be made to the Budget Citizens Advisory Committee at the January 20, 1999 Council meeting. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Direct staff to extend the application period to December 30, 1998, 5 :00 p.m., and allow for non - resident business persons to apply for the position. 1\ t0R_ PRI_ SERV\Home _Folders\LPope\M\Agendas\staff reportslbudgetcommittee.doc Uo () 02.1..3
