Gilbert, Director of Public Works Date: May 10,1999 (Council Meeting 5- 19 -99) Subject: Consider Notice of Completion for Peach Hill Road Widening Project BACKGROUND In August 1997 the City Council authorized the preparation of a design for the subject project, and authorized staff to work with the property owner, the Presbyterian Church, to acquire certain additional street right -of -way needs for this project. Last September, subsequent to the completion of the design and the acquisition of the needed right -of -way, the City Council authorized staff to advertise for receipt of bids. A construction contract was awarded last December. DISCUSSION A. Scope of Work The project design provided for the widening of the south side of Peach Hill Road to provide an additional six feet (61) of pavement width to allow for the addition of a westbound left - turn lane. The cross section of the street is now as follows: • one twelve feet (121) wide eastbound through lane; • one twelve feet (121) wide westbound through lane; • one twelve feet (121) wide westbound left -turn lane; • two five feet (51) wide bike lanes (Note: width of Bike Lane was reduced from 8' wide to 5' wide), and; • two six and one -half feet (6%1) sidewalk /parkways. Budget: • The current FY 1998/99 Budget for this project is $81,000. • The funding source for the project is the Spring Road Tierra Rejada Road AOC Fund. • Consistent with the original intent and direction of the City Council regarding the ultimate funding source for the subject project, it is the intent of staff to transfer to the Spring Road /Tierra Rejada Road AOC Fund, an amount equal to the total project cost, said transfer to come from fees to be paid by the developers of the properties within the Carlsberg Specific Plan Area. rlll•.� Peach Hill Road Widening Notice of Completion May 10, 1999 Page 3 STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1. Accept the work as completed; 2. Instruct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion for the project; and, 3.
