SUBJECT: COMMUNITY BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FY 1999/2000 -
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
BACKGROUND
On March 17, 1999, Council authorized seventy -five thousand
dollars ($75,000) of the FY 1999/2000 Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) allocation for a Public Improvement project.
The determination of a specific project or projects was to be
made at a later date. A public hearing is required prior to
appropriation of the funds.
DISCUSSION
During its review of the CDBG program for FY 1999/2000, the City
Council allocated $75,000 for Public Improvement projects, one
of which was for improvements at the Boys and Girls Club
facility. The Club has renovated the interior, but has not had
sufficient resources to fully renovate the exterior of the
building. The organization is requesting funds for re- stuccoing
the building. Other funds will be used for roof work,
replacement of all fascia, windows, doors, overhangs, painting
and landscaping.
A preliminary bid for the re- stucco project has been obtained
for budgeting purposes in the amount of forty -nine thousand
seven hundred sixty -five dollars ($49,765) and includes
sandblasting, patching, brown coat, and stucco. Including a ten
percent (10°) contingency, the total amount requested is fifty -
four thousand seven hundred forty -two dollars ($54,742). Budget

Dear John:
The Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark would like to formally request CDBG
Capital Improvement funds in the amount of $54,742 for the exterior
renovation of our facility.
We have phased our renovation project. The funds we have requested
are for Phase II which will be for re- stuccoing the building. More
specifically, the following will be included:
➢ Sandblasting Building
➢ Patching Around Eight (8) Windows
➢ Miscellaneous Plaster Patches (Estimated 98 Yards)
➢ Re -Brown Coating
➢ Re- Stuccoing in Sand Finish
We have received a preliminary bid for budgeting purposes of $49,765.
Our request is based upon that bid plus a 10% Continguency ($4,977),
totaling $54,742.
Based upon Council approval, our timeframe is to accomplish this in
October 1999.
For your general information, work in other phases includes roof work,
replacing all facia, windows, doors, overhangs, painting, and
landscaping.
