SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
The Planning Commission consists of five members who serve two -year
terms. All five seats on the Planning Commission must be appointed
at this timedue to expiration of the term in December 1998.
Applications were due on December 2, 1998, at 5 :00 p.m. Twenty
three (23) applications were received, and a copy of each
application was previously provided to the Council for review. Phil
Culler subsequently requested that his application be withdrawn.

The City Council adopted Resolution No. 98 -1509 on September 2,
1998, which sets forth the Council policies for citizen
appointments to boards, commissions, and committees. The Council
policies have been followed for the posting and publication of
notice of the Planning Commission vacancies. The Council's
resolution states that the procedure for appointments shall be as
follows:
A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members
of the Council.
B. The Mayor shall make a motion putting forth a single name
to be approved for appointment.
C. A second shall be required.
D. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Select five (5) Planning Commissioners to serve a two -year term
ending December 2000.
