DATE: March 9, 1999 (CC Meeting of March 17, 1999) SUBJECT: Consider Appointments to the Moorpark Library Advisory Committee DISCUSSION On February 3, 1999, the City Council approved the formation of a Moorpark Library Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Council on how best to utilize any fund balance generated from property tax revenues, the library facility fee revenue, grants and other local funding sources. It is to be comprised of two Councilmembers, one member from the Moorpark Friends of the Library, the Moorpark Library Branch librarian, and three public members. The Committee will meet on an as- needed basis, which is anticipated to be two to four times per year. A recruitment was conducted to fill the public representative slots. Those who responded are: Virginia Carpenter, Tim Kalemjarian, Stephanie Lawrence, and Betty Peckham. After the close of the recruitment period, the City received an additional application from Amy Bauer. The Council was provided with copies of the applications previously under a separate memo. Additionally, staff contacted the Moorpark Friends of the Library which selected one of its members, Jane Choy, to serve on the Committee. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council appoint two Councilmembers, three public members, the Moorpark Library Branch Librarian, and the Moorpark Friends of the Library representative to serve as the Library Advisory Committee.
