Lindley, Director of Community Services rc June 5, 1999 (CC Meeting of June 16, 1999) Consider One -Year Extension of Sunridge Landscape Maintenance Agreement Sunridge Landscape Services has provided landscape maintenance services to the City since 1988. In 1996, the City solicited bid proposals for citywide landscape services, and a three -year agreement was awarded to Sunridge as the low, qualified bidder. The City's current Agreement with Sunridge covers maintenance of all City landscaped areas in parks, parkways and medians, and other miscellaneous properties including, but not limited to the Metrolink Station and the rental house at 661 Moorpark Avenue. Additionally, the Agreement requires Sunridge to clean and stock park restrooms and open the gates at AVCP and the Shadyridge Buffer Zone, Monday through Friday. During the entire term of the Agreement, which expires June 30, 1999, Sunridge received no cost -of- living increases, nor rate adjustments. Landscape maintenance represents the largest expense in the Park Maintenance Budget. Since the success or failure of the City's efforts to establish a park maintenance assessment district could significantly impact the level of maintenance services provided to parks, a competitive bid process for landscape maintenance service was not conducted. Instead, it is recommend that the Council authorize a one -year extension to the City's Agreement with Sunridge to expire on June 30, 2000. M: \MLindley \LANDSCP \Sunridge agr ext ccagd.doc 000689 Sunridge Landscape Agreement Page 2 Sunridge has carried out its contract obligation in a more than satisfactory manner, and has demonstrated, on numerous occasions a willingness to assist the City by performing beyond its contractual responsibilities when warranted. Additionally, Sunridge has agreed to enter into a one -year extension at its current rate, without a cost of living adjustment. RECONb ENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council approve an Amendment to the City's Agreement for maintenance of landscape parks and streetscapes with Sunridge Landscape Services extending its term one additional year, and authorize the City Manager to sign the Amendment on behalf of the City. 000690
