Honorable Patrick Hunter, Mayor City of Moorpark 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, CA 93021 Dear Mayor Hunter: RECEIVED J U N- 2 3 1999 CITY CLERK'S OFFICE CITY OF MOORPARK June 21, 1999 Southern California Edison has been involved in ongoing discussions with the City Councilmember Chris Evans regarding the potential for recreational - commercial uses on the SCE property located adjacent to Arroyo Vista Park. These discussions have been amicable and have led to the first- generation "Conceptual Land Use Plan" prepared by Development Planning Services, a copy of which is attached for your use. One of the significant features of the plan is provision of much - needed additional parking beneath SCE transmission lines for existing and future park uses. Under this proposal Arroyo Vista property now committed to parking could be better utilized for play field and recreational uses. We recognize that the ultimate range of land uses to be allowed on the SCE property needs to be determined in close cooperation with the City Council and staff, Planning and Park Commissioners, and the local community. Southern California Edison is requesting that this matter be brought before the entire City Council for consideration as a Discussion or Action Item. The purpose of a City Council discussion of this matter would be to establish a clear direction for SCE and the appropriate City of Moorpark departments to follow in determining the feasibility of land uses with recreational and fiscal benefits to the City of Moorpark. We look forward to a continued dialogue on this matter and anticipate the opportunity to meet with the City Council. Please contact Dennis Hardgrave at 805- 484 -8303 at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration of this request.
