"` The primary research activity is the collection and verification of statistical data and other evidence about the changing business and economic environment. From the assessment of these data, the4Forecast Project monitors the status of the economy, and provides projections of future economic activity for the local area. the principal service area as of December 1998 is Ventura, Santa Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties; the Project also provides economic indicators for- the greater Southern California Region including Los Angeles County: 00007 7 Economic Forecast Project • 1998 'r d UCSB Economic Forecast Project Sponsorship Information for the year 2000 Sponsorship Levels and Benefits Business Founding Lead Advisory Associate Corporate Annual Funding Level $10,000 $5,000 $2;500 $1,500 $900 Benefits Admissions to the Annual Economic Forecast Seminar 20 12 8 6 Copies of the Annual Economic Outlook 100 50 20 12 6 Copies of the Semi - Annual Newsletter 5 3 2 2 1 Admissions to the Mid -Year Update Seminar 5 3 2 2 1 Custom Research Credit Hours 28 10 6 3 2 (includes special presentations) Invitation to Private Audience With Speakers dinner Yes Yes Yes Yes No Public Presentations The Economic Forecast Seminars are annual public presentations featuring invited speakers from the most prestigious business firms, universities, and other organizations throughout the United States. The director of the Economic Forecast Project routinely presents the local economic review and forecast for Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties. ..4 A mid -year update conference is held each year for sponsors and their guests. The mid -year seminar reviews current economic conditions, and updates the annual forecast that was presented 6 months earlier. Special Presentations and Reports We make frequent special presentations and prepare custom reports and studies for our sponsors and other organizations at their request. Special presentations are made throughout the year. The content updates and expands upon the most recent short and long term forecast. Forecast Models and Databank Since 1985 the Economic Forecast Project has developed a local databank and a series of forecast models for the Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo County economies. The econometric models were originally developed by UCSB faculty members for use in economics courses. As the models were expanded and improved the forecasts became. useful to the local business and planning community. • The long term econometric forecasting models produce projections of nearly 100 key local economic indicators over a 10 year forecast period. • The short term forecasting models generate projections of retail sales, employment, population, housing, and tourism on a quarterly basis over a 3 year forecast period. The database used to support the models has evolved into the largest historical depository of regional economic, business, and demographic information that presently exists. The database also includes a number of social and environmental indicators, which we monitor continuously. By focusing our attention on data and other information specific to the regional economies we are better equipped to evaluate the local implications of policies pursued by city, county, state, and federal governments, or by uncontrollable events which may affect the region such as fire or drought. 0000,78 r = UCSB ECONOMIC FORECAST PROJECT ,- NEW SPONSORSHIP FORM for calendar year 2000 Please indicate the sponsorship level at which you wish to enroll your organization: ❑ Corporate Sponsor: $900 ❑ Business Associate Sponsor: $1,500 ❑ Advisory Sponsor: $2,500 ❑ Lead Sponsor: $5,000 ❑Y Founding Sponsor: $10,000 ❑ Special Research Sponsor, Level $ Make all checks payable to the UC Regents - EFP.
