TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: Deborah S. Traffenstedt, City Clerk S 1
DATE: February 9, 2000 (CC Meeting 2/16/00)
SUBJECT: Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 2000- Supporting
Retaining the 805 Area Code for Ventura County
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Ventura County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution on
February 8, 2000, supporting retention of the 805 Area Code in
Ventura County. The current proposal under consideration by the
California Public Utilities Commission and North American Numbering
Plan Administration has two main alternatives. Split Alternative
1B retains the 805 Area Code in Ventura County and creates a new
code for Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
Staff has prepared a draft City Council resolution (attached) that
is modeled after the resolution adopted by the Ventura County Board
of Supervisors, supporting Split Alternative 1B (retaining the 805
Area Code in Ventura County).
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution No. 2000- and direct staff to transmit the
resolution to the Public Utilities Commission.
Attachment: Draft Resolution
RESOLUTION NO. 2000-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING RETENTION
OF THE 805 AREA CODE IN VENTURA COUNTY
(SUPPORTING SPLIT ALTERNATIVE 1B)

original Area Code in the core area of greatest population and
business density; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Moorpark fully
supports the Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Ventura requesting retention of the 805 Area Code in Ventura
County.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Moorpark supports
