Traffenstedt, City Clerk `D'95T Blanca Garza, Deputy City Clerk F')% January 28, 2000 (CC Meeting of 2/16/2000) CONSIDER APPOINTMENT TO THE SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Senior Center Advisory Committee consists of five members who serve two -year terms. On December 8, 1999, a vacancy became available on the Senior Center Advisory Committee when Ruth Farabaugh resigned. The current appointment will expire on December 31, 2000. Applications were requested and were due on January 27, 2000, at 5 :00 p.m. Three (3) applications were received, and a copy of each application was previously provided to the Council for review. DISCUSSION Following is a list of the applicant names received by the close of the application period: Gerald Goldstein George Peckham Dick Wardlow The City Council adopted Resolution No. 99 -1671 on October 20, 1999, which sets forth the Council policies for citizen appointments to boards, commissions, and committees. The Council policies have been followed for the posting and publication of notice of the vacancies. The Council's resolution states that the procedure for appointments shall be as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. 0000is Senior Center Advisory Committee Appointment Page 2 B. Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names of all persons he /she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee. C. The Mayor shall make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. D. A second shall be required. E. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Select one (1) Senior Center Advisory Committee member to serve a term to end December 31, 2000. 0000
