SUBJECT: CONSIDER RESOLUTION NO. 2000- AUTHORIZING THE
CITY OF MOORPARK TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
CONTINUATION OF A MULTI- AGENCY TRAFFIC
SAFETY /ENFORCEMENT GRANT.
BACKGROUND: The regional office of the California Highway
Patrol received a grant in 1999 through the California
Office of Traffic Safety for additional enforcement efforts
along State Route 118. The City of Moorpark participated
as a part of the multi - agency effort to implement the
grant. The grant has been renewed for one year.
DISCUSSION: The regional office of the California Highway
Patrol received a grant from the State Office of Traffic
Safety for enforcement assistance along State Route 118.
The City of Moorpark received $16,198.00 from that grant in
1999. The funds were used for additional overtime,
enforcement efforts on SR 118. The grant has been renewed
for the year 2000 with Moorpark scheduled to receive at
least the same amount of funds.
Although the grant has been approved by the State, Moorpark
has not received a copy of the contract to execute and
therefore has not been advised of the actual amount of
funds it will receive. The City cannot resume its extra
enforcement efforts until the contract is executed.
To expedite implementing the grant operations, the attached
resolution authorizes the City's participation in the
renewed grant and authorizes the City Manager to sign any
related documents and to designate the grant administrator

for the City. A contract between the City and the CHP will
be executed to cover the grant reimbursement procedures.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 2000 -
authorizing the City's participation in a multi - agency
traffic safety /enforcement grant.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN A MULTI -
AGENCY TRAFFIC SAFETY /ENFORCEMENT GRANT
WHEREAS, the California Highway Patrol has received a
continuation of grant funds for a multi - agency SR 118
Safety Task Force; and
WHEREAS, State Route 118, portion of which is within
the corporate boundaries of the City of Moorpark, has been
identified as the corridor for which a Safety Action Plan
is to be developed; and
WHEREAS, the grant allows funds for law enforcement;
and
WHEREAS, increasing law enforcement is an important
element in approving traffic safety on the corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MOORPARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Moorpark is herewith
authorized to participate in the continuation of the multi -
agency Traffic Safety /Enforcement Grant through the
California Highway Patrol.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is authorized to
sign any necessary documentation including participation
contracts to effectuate this grant and to designate the
grant administrator.
