On May 11, Jane Lavallee, Transportation Supervisor for the Moorpark Unified School District,
discussed a significant transportation concern with you. This involves the newly installed stop
sign at Gabbert and Poindexter roads. As Jane explained to you, this stop sign for southbound
Gabbert traffic will cause our school buses to extend over the railroad tracks when stopping at
this intersection. I am certain you agree this clearly is an undesirable situation that could severely
jeopardize the safety of our students. It is imperative that this situation be corrected immediately.
I understand that you indicated to Jane that you would be consulting with your traffic engineer.
When can we expect resolution to this situation? I would be very happy to work with you and
make available any Transportation staff to answer any questions you have concerning this
matter. I request that some action be taken immediately to ensure the safety of Moorpark
children.
If you would like to discuss this matter with me, please contact me at 531 -6437.
