MOORPARK CITY COUNCI
AGENDA REPORT BY:
Honorable City Council
Nancy Burns, Senior Management Analyst
June 6, 2000 (Special CC Meeting of
June 7, 2000)
Subject: CONSIDER EXPANDING SCOPE OF WORK FOR BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
CDBG - FUNDED RE- STUCCO PROJECT
On August 18, 1999, Council approved allocating Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for a re- stucco project at
the Boys & Girls Club, in an amount not to exceed fifty -five
thousand dollars ($55,000).
DISCUSSION
When this project was approved, the Boys & Girls Club
anticipated the donation of eight (8) windows to replace
existing windows along the western wall of the building. The
re- stucco project was planned to occur after the installation of
these new windows and to patch around them, as needed. The Club
has selected a contractor for the re- stucco project and the
initial work on the structure has begun.
Now the Club has learned it will not receive the anticipated
window donation, and has requested approval to contract for
purchasing and installing the windows with CDBG funds. The
anticipated cost for this is $10,000. In addition, the Club
requests that approval be given to install drywall on the
interior of the building where damaged vents were boarded up and
an unused door was removed. The estimated cost for this work is
$3,900.

No additional allocation of funds is being requested, as the re-
stucco bid was lower than originally anticipated ($36,220 for
re- stucco and painting). If the new windows and interior
drywall repair is included in the Scope of Work, the total
construction cost is estimated to be $50,120. In addition, the
costs of CDBG and Davis Bacon compliance are estimated to be
$1,000. Council approval is requested, as the installation of
windows and interior drywall work are separate, though related,
repairs. All work is subject to confirmation from the City's
Building Inspector that the building meets all relevant Codes.
STAFF RECOMMMATION
Approve additional repairs as identified in this agenda report,
with total project not to exceed $55,000, as originally
approved.
