BY: -t j August 30, 2000 (CC Meeting of September 20, 2000) Consider Appointments to Joint City /MUSD Ad Hoc Committees (Continued from meeting of 09 -06 -2000) BACKGROUND: On May 17, 2000, the City Council considered a report from the City Manager and the Council appointed ad hoc committee (Councilmembers Evans and Harper) that had met with two members of the Moorpark Unified School District Board (Board President Barker and Board Member Baldwin) as the "Task Force for Mutual Community Benefits." A copy of the referenced May 2000 report is attached. The Council acted on the recommendation to reconfigure three existing joint ad hoc committees as follows: A. Casey Road Site and City Participation in Advance Planning of School Facilities; B. Flory Avenue Site Proposed Development; and C. Facilities and Programs. DISCUSSION: On May 17, 2000, the City Council three existing joint City /MUSD ad above. The City Council also met Unified School District Board on number of items including matters committees. To avoid duplication approved the reconfiguration of hoc committees as referenced jointly with the Moorpark June 22, 2000, and discussed a related to the three ad hoc and potential overlap of 000006 City Council Agenda Report for Meeting of Sept. 6, 2000 Re: Consider Appointments to Joint City /MUSD Ad Hoc Committees Page 2 subject matters, it is appropriate to dissolve the previous three committees, which are as follows: A. Casey Road Site and City Participation in Advance Planning of School Facilities Members: Evans & Rodgers Alternate: Harper B. Crossing Guard Funding and Circulation and Parking Around Schools Including City Issued Encroachment Permits for District Events Members: Hunter & Rodgers Alternate: Wozniak C. Joint Use Facilities and Programs (e.g., proposed tennis courts, D.A.R.E., and Project Pride) Members: Harper & Wozniak Alternate: Evans as well as the Task Force for Mutual Community Benefits (Councilmembers Evans and Harper) and to appoint members to the three reconfigured committees. STAFF RECOMMNDATION: Make appointments to the three (3) joint City /MUSD ad hoc committees and dissolve existing ad hoc committees.
