Lindley, Director of Community Services n DATE: February 10, 2001 (CC Meeting of February 21, 2001) SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution No. 2001- , Amending the FY 2000/01 Budget to Fund Performing Arts Efforts DISCUSSION At its meeting on February 7, 2001, the City Council expressed its desire to fund non profit, performing arts organizations that benefit the City and its residents. The Council specifically requested that the attached Resolution be drafted, amending the FY 2000/01 budget and allocating an amount, in excess of $1,000, to fund requests from such organizations through the end of the fiscal year. Additionally, the Council indicated that it wanted to grant New West Symphony's request for $1,000. Staff is proposing that a total of $3,000 be placed in an appropriate line item within the Community Services budget to respond to requests from performing arts organizations. As indicated by the Council, $1,000 will be contributed to New West Symphony and $2,000 will be available to the Council should it wish to consider future performing arts contributions between now and June 30, 2001. The funds to cover this expenditure will be transferred from the City's unallocated General Fund Balance. STAFF RECOMMENDATION (Roll Call Vote) Adopt Resolution No. 2001 -,, amending the FY 2000/01 Budget by transferring $3,000 from the General Fund Balance to the Community Services Department budget. 0001 ;j Performing Arts Budget Amendment Page 2 ATTACHMENT A RESOLUTION NO. 2001- RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE FY 2000/01 BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING $3,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVE (1000) TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT BUDGET (1000.7100) FOR PERFORMING ARTS WHEREAS, on June 21, 2000, the City Council adopted the budget for Fiscal Year 2000/01; and WHEREAS, a staff report has been presented to said Council requesting a budget amendment appropriating $3,000 from the General Fund Balance for performing arts contributions; and WHEREAS, Exhibit "A" hereof describes said budget amendment and its resultant impacts to the budget line item(s); NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. A budget amendment appropriating $3,000 from the General Fund Balance to the Community Services Department expenditure budget as more particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of the resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original Resolutions.
