A Cl- 1 4pPued GxpBndftcre $ am Orch e str'a _ Mary K. Lindley, Director of Community Services April 6, 2001 (CC Meeting of April 18, 2001) DISCUSSION Consider Request For Funding From Moorpark Symphony Orchestra The City is in receipt of a letter from the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra requesting funding in the amount of $5,000 (see Attachment A). In return for granting the funding request, the Symphony indicates that it will donate ten tickets to attend its concerts this season. On February 21, 2001, the City Council allocated $6,000 for performing arts purposes. Of that $6,000, the Council appropriated $1,000 to grant a funding request made by the New West Symphony, which leaves $5,000 available. Staff recommends that the Council grant the Moorpark Symphony $1,000. If the Council wishes to consider funding the Symphony at a higher level, it can do so as a part of it FY 2001/02 budget deliberations, which are scheduled to take place over the next couple of months. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Approve the expenditure of $1,000 for the Moorpark Symphony. attachment A \ \MOR_PRI_SERV \home folders \MLindley \Public Art \Mrpk Symphony funding request ccagd.doc MOORPARK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA James J.
