ADJOURNMENT: The next regularly scheduled meeting is February 12, 1990. Any member of the public may address the Commission during the Public Comments portion of the Agenda. SPEAKER CARDS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE SECRETARY PRIOR TO THE CALL TO ORDER OF THE MEETING. Speakers will be heard in the order that their Speaker Cards are received. A limitation of 3 minutes shall be imposed upon each speaker. * Discussion/Action Items which are judged by the Director of Community Services to be of high priority. Newhouse, Director of Community Services DATE: January 5, 1990 4/61\ SUBJECT: 42nd Annual California & Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Conference and Exhibit Show; March 15 to 18, San Diego, California. Annually, the California Park and Recreation Society hosts a Recreation and Park Conference. This year' s conference will be held March 15 to 18 in San Diego, California, This conference combines two sections: institute and educational seminars and an equipment exhibit show. The institute/educational seminars offer a variety of mini sessions related to the park and recreation field. The exhibit show provides the opportunity to view the largest cross-section of the most current and innovative products and services available to the park and recreation industry today in California. Funds have been budgeted in the FY 89/90 budget in the amount of $2,800 for the Commission and the Recreation Supervisor to attend this conference. Eligible expenses include: Conference registration; Lodging; Meals; Parking; Travel (mileage). The City will make all arrangements for those Commissioners wishing to attend this conference. 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 (805) 529-6864 42CP1,; .i;NF/PRAGENDA Parks & Recreation Commission Page 2 January 5, 1990 Registration and lodging fees will be prepaid. All other expenses will be estimated, and an advance payment of 80% of the estimated total expenses will be given to each Commissioner in attendance. Expenses exceeding the advance payment may be repaid up to exhaustion of the $2,800.00 budgeted. Upon return to the City, each Commissioner is required to complete a Claim for Reimbursement of Travel Expenses form and submit it to the City within ten (10) days of the conclusion of the conference, which will be March 28. By pre-registering for this conference, we can save $30 per person. Conference pre-registration deadline is January 31, 1990. If an unforeseen event should occur after you register which would prevent you from attending, a full refund may be requested in writing prior to February 23, 1990. As time is short, please review your personal schedules and be prepared to inform Debra if you will be attending this conference so she can make the arrangements. As this is an overnight trip, per City policy, City Council approval is needed. This item will appear on the January 17, 1990, City Council agenda. PEN:db 42CPRS.CNF/PRAGENDA
