The plans were also shared with the building architect and electrical engineer, so that they can incorporate the utility connections into their plans. The soils report on the building site has also been completed and forwarded to the architect for inclusion in the building specifications. Staff is in the process of preparing bid documents for the construction work. The project is on line to begin construction around the first of January, 2002. The City Council identified the completion of the sports fields, included in the conceptual plan, as one of its priorities for FY 2001/02. At this time, staff is attempting to secure a project manager for this project to assist with the development of an RFP to select a landscape architect to design construction drawings and specifications. To date, staff is in the process of completing the formal bid process for the design of the landscape improvements (bid process closed September 18). An agreement with the successful landscape architect will be negotiated. It is anticipated that it will take approximately eight weeks to complete the design process and prepare bid documents for construction. In addition to the aforementioned projects, which are listed in the City's Goals and Objectives, Council also approved a number of other park improvement projects which were included in the FY 2001/02 budget, for which staff is attempting to make progress.
