The Chamber of Conunerce is proposing to stage an event which we have tentatively
called Showcase Moorpark on January 12, 2002. We would like to stage the Event in the City
Hall parking lot and facilities from 11:00 am. to 4 :00 p.m. I am writing to request that the City
Council make the City facilities available for the Event, to request the participation of city staff and
members of the council, and to ask the council to waive any fees for use of the city facilities or for staff
time.
The Chamber is staging this Event to bring Moorpark residents, businesses, developers of
approved projects, elected officials, and city staff together in one place to promote our local businesses
and share and exchange information about the City's role in economic development. As such, the Event
may also feature panel discussions with local business, academic, and political leaders to discuss
Moorpark's economic future, and an open house tour of City Hall and the Library.
Enclosed is a copy of an article about the Event the Chamber recently published in our
newsletter. Please let me know as soon as possible whether or not you will be able to place this matter
on the Council's agenda.
1 kook forward to your reply.
Very truly yours,
Green

Press Release
SHOWCASE MOORPARK
Have you ever wondered about the development projects under way in our city? For
instance, what's happening with the land just west of the 23 Freeway on the south side of
L.A. Avenue? How about the new housing development project on the south side of L.A.
Avenue near the Mobile station? Or the apartment buildings off of L.A. Avenue, when
will they be completed; how many are there, and what will the rents be? What about the
housing project at the end of Spring Street, and the proposed new police station on
Spring, and the fire station on High Street? How about the Moorpark Estates project
between Walnut and Grimes Canyon? In total, how many new homes are under
construction throughout the city, and when will they be completed? How many new
homes are planned in the future? When will all these projects be completed, and what
impact will they have on our city's tax base and on our existing businesses?
To help with the answers to these questions, the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce and
the City of Moorpark have begun discussions about staging an event in early January.
The event, which has been tentatively named Showcase Moorpark, would bring the
residents of Moorpark, Moorpark businesses, local developers, elected officials, and. city
staff together at our City Hall to put on a showcase of displays, maps, and exhibits for the
new projects and our existing businesses. In addition, the event may feature panel
discussions with local business, academic, and political leaders, keynote speakers to
discuss Moorpark's economic future, and an open house tour of City Hall.
If you would like to set up a display for your business, or help with the planning for the
event, call the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce at 529 -0322.
