MEETING AND SEMI-ANNUAL PARK TOUR
Moorpark, California March 9, 2019
A Special Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission of the City of Moorpark was
held on March 9, 2019 at the Moorpark Community Center located at 799 Moorpark
Avenue, Moorpark, California.
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Estrella called the meeting to order at 10:04 A.M.
2. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners Gunning, Morgan and Thompson and Vice
Chair Norwalt and Chair Estrella.
Staff Present: Jeremy Laurentowski, Parks and Recreation Director and
Kimberly Sexton, Administrative Assistant.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
4. REORDERING OF, AND ADDITIONS TO, THE AGENDA:
None.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS, FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS, AND REPORTS ON
MEETINGS/CONFERENCES ATTENDED BY COUNCILMEMBERS AND
MAYOR:
None.
6. PRESENTATION/ACTION/DISCUSSION:
A. Parks Tour. Staff Recommendation: The Commission and staff toured and
discussed the following parks in the order listed below.
1. Glenwood Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed
upcoming projects to include a new climbing structure, engineered
wood fiber surfacing, a ramp, and ADA compliant concrete.

2. Arroyo Vista Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed options
for potentially expanding the park to hold additional fields, a dog
park or water feature.
3. Country Trail Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed the
upcoming installation of new play equipment, a trail in and around
the meadow and seating.
4. Peach Hill Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed the
potential of installing ADA compliant playground equipment when it
is time to replace the current equipment.
5. 80 Acre Property
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed
the Santa Monica Mountain Conservatory's role in developing the
park and the potential for a trail from the property connecting to
both Thousand Oaks and the Wildwood Regional Park area.
6. Miller Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed a
current project which includes replacing the playground
equipment.
7. Campus Canyon Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed a
current project to replace the current sand with wood fiber and
install new playground equipment that could include wheelchair
accessible swings or adult /child swings.
8. Campus Park
The Commission and staff toured the park and discussed the
potential of removing or replacing the restroom and install
additional lighting.

The Commission and staff discussed the upcoming Parks Master
Plan and the potential for aligning future capital improvement
projects with it.
B. Consider the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Mission Statement, Priorities, Goals and
Objectives. Staff Recommendation: Receive and file report.
Mr. Laurentowski delivered the report.
There were no speakers.
Staff and Commissioners discussed the Goals and Objectives for Fiscal
Year 2018-2019.
MOTION: Commissioner Morgan moved and Vice Chair Norwalt
seconded a motion to receive and file the report. The motion carried by
unanimous voice vote.
7. CONSENT CALENDAR:
A. Approval of Minutes of the Park and Recreation Commission's Regular
Meeting of February 4, 2019. Staff Recommendation: Approve as
presented.
MOTION: Commissioner Gunning moved and Commissioner Thompson
seconded a motion to approve the consent calendar. The motion carried by
unanimous voice vote.
10. ADJOURNMENT:
MOTION: Chair Estrella adjourned the meeting at 1:32 P.M.
