MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA REPORT
To: Honorable City Council
From: Michael Mathews, Senior Management Analyst
Date: May 1, 2003 (CC Meeting of 5 -21 -2003)
SUBJECT: CONSIDER RESOLUTION NO. 2003- DIRECTING THE
PLACEMENT OF NO STOPPING SIGNS ON GISLER ROAD
BETWEEN POINDEXTER AVENUE AND REYES STREET
iTa:fl7!lAl2i0ial
Gisler Road, one of the newest streets in Moorpark, runs
south from Poindexter Avenue. The dead -end street serves as
the access road for both Poindexter Park and Tract 5161
(Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation). The curb to
curb street width is 40 feet, and an east /west crosswalk
facilitates students attending Chaparral Middle School.
nTC("TTCCTr)NT
If vehicles are parked immediately south of Poindexter
Avenue, sight distance and visibility are diminished for
pedestrians and motorists. The purpose of the proposed
parking prohibition is to prevent vehicles from parking on
both sides of Gisler Road just south of Poindexter Avenue in
such a manner that would impede sight distance and
visibility. The limits of the proposed parking restriction
extend to a point approximately ninety feet (901) south of
Poindexter Avenue as shown on the attached exhibit.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution No. 2003- establishing a parking
prohibition on Gisler Road between Poindexter Avenue and
Reyes Street.
