Agenda Report
The Honorable City Council
Kenneth C. Gilbert, Director of Public Works
June 20, 2003 (Council Meeting 7 -2 -03)
TN__
SUBJECT: Notice of Completion for the 2002 Curb Ramp Project
BACKGROUND
In February of 2003, the City Council awarded a contract for the
construction of the subject project. The purpose of the project
was to install curb ramps at certain "T" intersections, in order
to improve handicap access.
DISCUSSION
A. Project Scope
The location of the thirty -two (32). new curb ramps is
illustrated on the map attached as Exhibit 1.
B. Quantity Adjustment
In the construction of a Public Works project, it is not
uncommon for the final actual quantity for given bid items to
differ from the engineer's estimate of quantities set forth in
the original bid documents. The final contract cost will
differ from the bid price, based upon the actual quantities
required.
The final quantities required for this project were more than
the engineer's estimate. The cost of the additional quantities
required was $5,003.15.

4. Reallocation of Fund 2602 Suzplus: The City Council
recently awarded a contract for the Flinn Avenue
Realignment Project [Project 8037]. That project included
the widening of Spring Road to accommodate new Bike Lanes.

The City has completed a final inspection of the project and
has found the work to be acceptable, less minor "punch- list"
items. At this time it would be appropriate for the City
Council to accept the project as complete and direct the City
Clerk to record the Notice of Completion to start the final
lean period, upon completion of correction of the "punch -
list" items. Absent the receipt of any Stop Notices from
subcontractors or suppliers, the ten percent retention will
be released thirty -five (35) days after the date of the
recordation of that notice.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Accept the work as complete.
