BY B.Garza S. Consider Corrections to Appointments to the 2019/20 Teen Council. Staff Recommendation: Make one appointment and correct one appointment made to the Teen Council for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2019 and ending June 30, 2020. (Staff: Ky Spangler) Item: 10.S. MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT TO: Honorable City Council FROM: Ky Spangler, City Clerk DATE: 07/17/2019 Regular Meeting SUBJECT: Consider Corrections to Appointments to the 2019/20 Teen Council DISCUSSION At its meeting of June 19, 2019, the City Council considered the appointment of applicants to the Teen Council for the 2019/20 term. Consistent with Policy 6.7 §3 in Resolution 2018-3763, the Teen Council shall consist of no more than seven (7) and no more than fifteen (15) members, with a goal of having a minimum of one (1) representative from each grade level from 7th to 12th grade. Pursuant to the City Council’s adopted procedure for appointments (Policy 2.2 [10.]) in Resolution 2018-3763, the Mayor moved to nominate applicants, with the intention of appointing fifteen (15) Teen Council members. The nomination was seconded and the City Council unanimously voted to appoint the nominees. Following the meeting, two matters requiring correction came to the attention of staff. First, it was identified that only fourteen (14) of the fifteen (15) names of nominees intended for appointment were read into the record; the name of one 8th grade nominee, Delilah Sichmeller, was inadvertently omitted. It is recommended that the Mayor nominate and the City Council vote to appoint applicant Delilah Sichmeller to the 2019/20 Teen Council to amend the official record. Lastly, it was identified that one of the 10th grade applicants, Johnathan Burns, had erroneously submitted two applications for consideration, one bearing his name and one bearing his father’s name, Sean Burns. Mayor Parvin nominated, and the Council voted to appoint, applicant Sean Burns. In that the applicant appointed does not meet the age qualification to serve on the Teen Council, it is recommended that the Mayor nominate and the City Council vote to appoint the correct applicant, Johnathan Burns, to the 2019/20 Teen Council to amend the official record. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Make one appointment and correct one appointment made to the Teen Council for a one- year term beginning July 1, 2019 and ending June 30, 2020. Item: 10.S. 707
