Lindley, Director of Community Services DATE: September 22, 2003 (Meeting of October 1, 2003) SUBJECT: Consider a Appropriate Orchestra DISCUSSION Resolution Amending the FY 03/04 Budget to Additional Funds for the Moorpark Symphony For the past two years, the City. the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra. to provide the City with one free smaller chamber concerts during Symphony donates 10 free concert the City. has budgeted $5,000 to support In return, the Symphony agreed full orchestra concert and two the year. The Council requested that the matter be considered by the Budget and Finance Committee (Mayor Hunter and Councilmember Harper) for a recommendation. The Committee met on September 3, and is recommending that the City appropriate an additional $2,500, for a total 2003/04 fiscal year appropriation of $7,500. The Symphony would continue to provide the City with a free full orchestra concert and two smaller chamber concerts. Additionally, 200 free tickets would be made available to the City. The City may distribute the tickets at its discretion including senior citizens, teens and youth, and /or low income residents. L Honorable City Council October 1, 2003 Page 3 RESOLUTION NO. 2003- RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE FY 2003/04 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE $2,500 TO THE MOORPARK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA BY TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVE BALANCE (1000) TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATION EXPENDITURE BUDGET (1000.7100). WHEREAS, on June 18, 2003, the City Council adopted the FY 2003/04 Budget; and WHEREAS, on October 1, 2003, staff presented the Council with a report which requests the appropriation of $2,500 from the General Fund Reserve balance to the Community Services Administration budget to support the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra; and WHEREAS, Exhibit "A" hereof describes said budget amendment and its resultant impacts to the budget line items. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. A budget amendment to allocate $2,500 from the General Fund Reserve Balance to support the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra, as more particularly described in Exhibit NAA" attached hereto is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of the resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original Resolutions.
