Dec 2017 City Council creates Broadband Ad Hoc Committee
2018-2019 Broadband Ad Hoc Committee reviews policy related
to broadband infrastructure and scopes RFP.
June 2019 Broadband Ad Hoc Committee finalizes RFP.
July 2019 City Council reviews and authorizes release of RFP.
Sep/Oct 2019 Staff and Broadband Ad Hoc Committee reviews
proposals and interviews proposers
Nov 2019 Staff and committee recommend award of contract to
Magellan Advisors

• Proposers could propose their own methodology to accomplish

Budget Resolution
•The City’s FY 2019/20 Budget does not include funding for a
Broadband Strategic Plan, since the project scope was not yet
defined.
•A resolution to authorize $99,550 from the General Fund is
provided as part of the staff report.
•Proposed costs of each proposal:
- Magellan Advisors: $99,550
- Ernst & Young: $456,225
Recommendation
•Approve agreement with Magellan Advisors
•Adopt a resolution amending the FY 2019/20 budget to fund the
agreement
