The staff report from the April 21 meeting is attached. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Appoint one City representative to fill the vacancy on the Board of Commissioners of the AHA for a term ending August 31, 2007. Traffenstedt, ATCM /City Clerk Prepared by: Maureen Benson, Deputy City Clerk DATE: April 1, 2004 (CC Meeting of 04/21/04) SUBJECT: Consider Appointment of One City Representative to the Board of Commissioners of the Area Housing Authority (AHA) of the County of Ventura BACKGROUND This appointment is to fill a vacancy created by the death of Herbert Morrison, who served as one of the City's two representatives on the Board of Commissioners of the AHA. The term of this now vacant appointment will expire on August 31, 2007. The application period to fill this vacancy closed on February 27, 2004. Five applications were received from the following individuals: Anthony Bellasalma Patricia Ducharme David Jacobs *Vina June Milburn Jorgen Nielsen (Copies of the applications were provided under separate cover.) *Vina June Milburn was reappointed by the AHA as Tenant Commissioner on March 31, 2004, with a new term to expire on March 31, 2006. The Council's adopted procedure for appointments (Policy 5 in Resolution No. 2004 -2160) is as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. .1111•', ri Honorable City Council May 5, 2004 Page 3 B. Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names) of all persons he /she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee. C. The Mayor shall then make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. D. A second shall be required. E. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Appoint one City representative to fill the vacancy on the Board of Commissioners of the AHA for a term ending August 31, 2007. 000050
