SUBJECT: Consider Resolution Revising Administrative Fees for
City Impound Fees from Eighty Dollars ($80) to One
Hundred Ten Dollars ($110) for the Release of Vehicles
Impounded by the Moorpark Police Department
BACKGROUND
A review of the fee schedule for the release of a vehicle
impounded within the city limits of Moorpark indicates that all
costs are not being recovered in the current fee of eighty
dollars ($80) . In an effort to recover all costs incurred by
the City of Moorpark a recommended increase in the fee to one
hundred ten dollars ($110) is recommended.
DISCUSSION
The Moorpark Police Department on average tows more than 220
vehicles per year. A vehicle impounded by the Moorpark Police
Department receives many stages of review and employee time
spent processing the report. Below are all the stages of review
and the amount of time and costs incurred at each stage of
review by the designated police department personnel.
