Committee Purpose
The purpose of the ad hoc committee is to raise funds to support equipping the planned
new Moorpark City Library
Accomplishments
> The Moorpark Friends of the Library (MFOTL) Board discussed a proposal to work with
the Library Board Ad Hoc Committee on fund raising for the new library. There was
agreement to partner on the effort and have funds go through the MFOTL as they are
already an established non-profit organization. The MFOTL Board named Rosalie Barili
and Diana Fowler as their representatives to the ad hoc committee.
> The Moorpark Women's Fortnightly Club (MWFC) discussed a proposal to work with the
Library Board Ad Hoc Committee on fund raising for the new library. There was an
agreement to partner on the effort. The MWFC Board named Dona Pugh as their
representative to the ad hoc committee.
> A meeting was held that included Linda Demmers, Candice Sunseri, Linda Goble, Rosalie
Barili and Diana Fowler. There was discussion about fundraising—for what, how and
when. A number of ideas were generated that we agreed to explore further. A follow
up meeting with Linda D will be scheduled with all named committee members to be
invited.
Planned Activities
> Find an appropriate executive sponsor for the fundraising efforts by the committee that
can provide their name and influence in'the community for this project. It was
suggested that it should be someone on the City Council who is already a strong
supporter of the Library.

MOORPARK LIBRARY BOARD
AGENDA REPORT
TO: Moorpark Library Board
FROM: Jessica Sandifer, Community Services Manager
BY: Christine Conwell, Library Director
DATE: 01/14/20 Regular Meeting
SUBJECT: Consider the Library Quarterly Report for First and Second Quarter
Fiscal Year 2019-20
DISCUSSION
Below is the quarterly report of happenings at the Moorpark City Library for the first and
second quarter of Fiscal Year 2019-20:
Library:
There were 991 participants who signed up for the 2019 Summer Learning Program:
208 adults, 168 teens, and 615 children. Of those participants 17% completed at least 1
Bingo and 11% achieved a blackout. 17 participants went on to complete additional
Bingo cards.
This summer our Children's Librarian partnered with the recreation department's
summer camp to provide library services at Arroyo Vista Recreation Center. She would
bring books for the camp leaders and summer reading prizes for those children who
were participating in the program but couldn't make it to the library to collect prizes.
Every other week, the children who did not attend a field trip would take the bus to the
library for Storytime.
The Library was closed on Wednesday, October 30 and Thursday, October 31 due to
the power outage. The Haunted High Street event was also cancelled so Library staff
will save the materials purchased for the event for next year.
The adult program, Moorpark Writes, was cancelled in September due to low
participation. The cookbook discussion group, Read it & Eat It, was also cancelled
during July-September but resumed in October.
On Monday, December 9 the Library received notification that we had been awarded a
CopyCat grant from the California State Library to fund a Discovery Kit project. The
Discovery Kits will be designed and created for circulation among daycare providers
