CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA City Council Meeting Of ACTION: By. Deborah S. Traffenstedt, ATCM /City Clerk December 1, 2004 (CC Meeting of 12/15/04) Consider Appointments to the Planning Commission The Planning Commission consists of five members who serve two -year terms. All five seats on the Planning Commission must be appointed at this time, due to expiration of the two -year term. Applications were due on October 15, 2004, by 5:00 p.m. Seven (7) applications were received, and a copy of each application was previously provided to the Council for review. DISCUSSION Following is a list of the applicant names in alphabetical order from those applications received by the close of the filing period: DiCecco, Mark Landis, Kipp Moore, Jay Peskay, Robert Pozza, Scott Swinburne, Dennis Taillon, Mark Of those who applied, the current Planning Commissioners are Mark DiCecco, Kipp Landis, Robert Peskay, and Scott Pozza for the term ending December 2004. Mr. Moore has also applied for Parks and Recreation Commission, Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee, and Public Art Advisory Committee. The City Council's current Policies Resolution No. 2004 -2160, sets forth the Council policies for citizen appointments to boards, commissions, and committees. The Council policies have been followed for the posting and publication of notice of the Honorable City Council December 15, 2004, Regular Meeting Page 2 vacancies. Chapter 2.36 of the Municipal Code sets forth the regulations for the appointment of the Planning Commission as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. B. The Mayor shall make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. C. A second shall be required. D. The Council shall vote on each appointment to the Commission individually. The City Council's Policies Resolution includes an additional step prior to Step B., above, as follows: Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names of all persons he /she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee.
