Traffenstedt, ATCM /City Clerk December 7, 2004 (CC Meeting of 12/15/04) Consider Appointments to the Public Art Advisory Committee The Public Art Advisory Committee consists of two public members who serve a two -year term. The two public seats on the Committee expire in December 2004. Applications were due on October 15, 2004, by 5:00 p.m. Four (4) applications were received, and a copy of each application was previously provided to the Council for review. In addition to the public members, the Public Art Advisory Committee also includes two Councilmembers (currently Councilmembers Harper and Parvin) and one Parks and Recreation Commissioner (currently Sandra Thompson). After appointment of the new Parks and Recreation Commissioners (also scheduled for December 15), the Parks and Recreation Commission will need to reappoint its representative at the first regular meeting scheduled in 2005. DISCUSSION Following is a list of the applicant names in alphabetical order from those applications received by the close of the filing period: Kropp, Eliza Kinsell Moore, Jay Swinburne, Dennis Varnell, Jennifer Mr. Jay Moore is the only one of the above listed applicants who is currently serving on the Public Art Advisory Committee. Mr. Moore has also applied for Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee. 0000m -4 Honorable City Council December 15, 2004, Regular Meeting Page 2 The City Council's forth the Council commissions, and followed for the vacancies. The Coi appointments shall current Policies Resolution No. 2004 -2160 sets policies for citizen appointments to boards, committees. The Council policies have been posting and publication of notice of the zncil's resolution states that the procedure for be as follows: A. The Mayor shall solicit suggested nominees from members of the Council. B. Prior to making a motion for appointment, the Mayor shall announce the names of all persons he /she intends to nominate, and in the order to be nominated, for a board, commission, or committee. C. The Mayor shall make a motion putting forth each individual name to be approved for appointment. D. A second shall be required. E. The Council shall vote on each appointment individually.
