Gilbert, Director of Public Works C/` DATE: December 3, 2004 (Council Meeting 12- 15 -04) SUBJECT: Consider Resolution No. 2004- Establishing a "No Stopping Anytime" Zone on Both Sides of Los Angeles Avenue East of Collins Drive DISCUSSION It has been the policy of the City to prohibit parking on arterial and major collector streets throughout the City, in order to improve traffic safety and roadway aesthetics, and to prevent the storage of vehicles on a public street. It is the view of staff that parking restrictions should be established on the subject street segment. The adoption of the attached Resolution will establish a NO STOPPING ANYTIME parking restriction on both sides of Los Angeles Avenue between Collins Drive and the easterly City Limit. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution No. 2004- Attachment: Exhibit l: Resolution prk arroyodrive_0412 Exhibit 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING NO STOPPING ANYTIME ZONES ON LOS ANGELES AVENUE FROM COLLINS DRIVE EASTERLY TO THE CITY LIMIT WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code provides for the restriction and /or prohibition of parking and /or stopping on any local streets by a local agency; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is necessary to establish parking restrictions on Los Angeles Avenue east of Collins Drive. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. "NO STOPPING ANYTIME" zones are hereby established on both sides of Los Angeles Avenue, from Collins Drive easterly to the City Limit, as generally shown on Exhibit `A' attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to confirm the placement of signs and /or markings giving notice of the parking restrictions provided for herein. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the book of original resolutions. PASSED AND ADOPTED this day of , 2004.
