HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 2005 0518 CC REG ITEM 10CMOORPARK CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT TrEM 10 • G • CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA City Council Meeting of N - /F- A00✓� ACION: TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: John Brand, Senior Management Analyst` !j DATE: May 5, 2005 (CC meeting of May 18, 2005) SUBJECT: Consider Notice of Completion for the Bus Shelter Project 2005 BS -2 BACKGROUND • On September 3, 2003, the City Council approved plans and specifications for the Bus Shelter project and authorized staff to advertise for bids. • On November 19, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract for fabrication and installation of the project to LNi Custom Manufacturing, Inc. • On October 20, 2004, the City Council exercised its option for fabrication and installation of twelve additional bus shelters. • On May 4, 2005, principal installation of the bus shelters was completed. DISCUSSION A. Project Description The scope of this project consists of furnishing and installing bus shelters and benches at the following locations: 1. Second @ Millard 2. High Street @ Moorpark Metrolink Station 3. Princeton (old L.A.) @ Spring 4. Princeton @ Kavlico (across from Condor) The Honorable City Council CC Meeting of May 18, 2005 Page 2 5. Princeton across from Varsity Park Plaza 6. Campus Park @ Penn (EB) 7. Campus Park @ Marquette (EB) 8. Campus Park @ Marquette (WB) 9. Collins @ Campus Park 10. Park Crest Lane 11. Los Angeles Avenue @ Park Lane 12. Shasta @ Los Angeles Avenue B. Changes Site #11, L.A. Ave & Park Lane (Park Lane Center) was deleted due to pending design review by the California Division of State Architect. It is anticipated that this site will be included in the next phase of bus shelter installations. Instead, a bus shelter was installed in front of the Vintage Crest Senior Apartments on Park Lane near Park Crest. Trash receptacles were procured independently by the City and installed by the contractor. C. Inspection & Other Services Project Administration and Inspection was managed by the Community Services Senior Management Analyst. Site preparation consisting of the installation of concrete pads and sidewalk extensions where necessary was completed by City Public Works staff and by a separate agreement with an independent contractor. D. Fiscal Impact 1. Final Inspection and Acceptance The City has completed a final inspection of the project and has found the work to be acceptable. At this time it would be appropriate for the City Council to accept the project as complete and direct the City Clerk to record the Notice of Completion to start the final lien period. Absent the receipt of any Stop Notices from subcontractors or suppliers, the ten percent retention will be released thirty -five (35) days after the date of the recordation of that notice. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion, and release the balance of payment thirty -five (35) days after the Notice of Completion records, and release bonds consistent with the contractual procedures. 0 611
