CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA City Council Meeting ACTION: CITY OF MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT BY'= TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Mary K. Lindley, Parks, Recreation, and Community/,6/ Services Director DATE: June 29, 2005 (CC Meeting 07/06/05) SUBJECT: Consider Moorpark Boys and Girls Club's Use of City's Time at Moorpark Country Club Golf Course DISCUSSION Last year, the City Council approved a request by the Moorpark Boys and Girls Club to use the City' s one -day use of the Moorpark Country Club Golf Course for it's annual golf tournament. In return, the Boys and Girls Club donated $5,000 from the tournament's proceeds towards the City's recreation youth scholarship. Last year's action by the City Council was specific to the 2004 tournament. The Boys and Girls Club is again requesting to use the City's allocated one -day use of the golf course for it's 2005 tournament. By way of background, the City Council approved a provision in the Toll Brothers Second Settlement Agreement whereby Toll must allow the City to use its golf course (18 of the 27 holes /including use of golf carts) and clubhouse for one City sponsored event each calendar year, at no cost except for Toll's "out -of- pocket" expenses. It was intended that this provision would be used to raise funds for a City sponsored program to the benefit of Moorpark residents. Due to the fact that there are a number of worthy local non - profit organizations in the Moorpark area that sponsor golf tournaments as a means to raise funds, the City Council elected to forgo a City tournament so as not to detract from other similar events. 000095 Honorable City Council July 6, 2005 Page 2 Staff is requesting that the Council approve the Moorpark Boys and Girls Club's use of the City's designated one -day use of the Moorpark Country Club Golf Course in 2005, with the provision that the Boys and Girls Club provide $5,000 to the City for such use. These funds would be used for the City's recreation youth scholarship program. STAFF RECONaNDATION Approve the Moorpark Boys and Girls Club's request to use the City's allocated use of the Moorpark Country Club Golf Course and use of these funds, consistent with this report.
