DATE: 02/19/2020 Regular Meeting
SUBJECT: Easy Fire: After -Action Review Report and Lessons Learned
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
A verbal After-Action Report (AAR) will be presented to provide information regarding
the Easy Fire which began on the morning of October 30, 2019, in the City of Simi
Valley along East Street near Madera Road during a Public Safety Power Shutoff.
Areas of the City of Moorpark (City) were evacuated as the fire spread towards the City.
Designated City staff, including Ventura County Sheriff staff, reported to the City’s
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) the morning of October 30 and participated in
response activities. The Easy Fire threatened the City as it crossed State Route 23 and
was stopped by both ground and air fire suppression assets prior to damaging buildings
or injuring people. The EOC was deactivated soon after a 6:00 p.m. briefing, and all
evacuations and road closures in Moorpark were lifted by 10:14 a.m. on October 31,
2019.
