At the City Council meeting of March 17, 1986 a citizen
requested the City Council to order the restriping of Old
Highway 118 adjacent to the Villa Del Arroyo Mobil Home
Park. After a short discussion, the City Engineer offered
to re-evaluate the situation and advise the Council of the
findings.
Attached is a copy of a report on the same subject which was
presented to the City Council at their meeting of October
21, 1985. Upon a re-evaluation of the 'situation, the City
Engineer finds that the striping on Old Highway 118 is
appropriate. There is adequate sight distance and the
striping conforms to the standard lane width requirements as
well as tapers in and out of the left turn pockets.
The difference betwe~n the striping which currently exists
and the striping which existed prior to the repaving and
restriping of this section of highway is that the prior
condition did not include a left turn pocket into the mobile
home park. This left turn pocket was provided as a result
of discussions between CalTrans and the City Engineer's
office in an effort to provide improved safety for left
turning motorists.
