HomeMy WebLinkAboutAGENDA REPORT 2021 0203 CCSA REG ITEM 09A POWERPOINTCity Council Vision Statement Review February 3, 2021 1 The process of updating our General Plan began with a citizen-led community conversation about Moorpark - who we are, and our community’s aspirations for our City as we plan ahead to 2050. 18-member GPAC was established in September 2020 and tasked with providing input on a variety of key issues including the City’s Vision. Background 2 A succinct description of Moorpark’s core values and aspirations, as they relate to the General Plan A shared image of the future we hope to create Future-oriented, purposeful, ambitious, and inspirational A foundation for developing goals and policies. What is a Vision Statement? 3 Must be direct enough to communicate the values of the community while remaining flexible to allow for these values to be applied to the diverse range of topics that will be addressed in the General Plan. The Vision Statement may be amended as needed during the General Pan Update. What is a Vision Statement? 4 How Does the Vision Work? The Vision is the underlying framework for all Plan content Guiding Principles provide direction for how the Vision will be applied in preparing the land use diagram, and other physical plans and policies. Plans and Policies establish the actions necessary to implement the principles and vision. Moorpark supports and values local businesses, arts and education, innovation, healthy living, and maintains its family- oriented small-town feel. We are stewards of the environment and honor our agricultural and cultural heritage. We balance these values to maintain a high quality of life for our residents.
