Attachment— Quarter 2 Report Library Board ITEM: ATTACHMENT 02/09/2021 Regular Meeting Page 2 Moorpark City Library Quarterly Report October— December 2020 Events and Activities During the month of October, the Library held a Halloween Candy Bracket to determine which candy was the best of all time. 64 candies entered the bracket, but only one would be named supreme on Halloween. There were a total of 171 responses/votes and several participants asked that we do this again next year! On December 9, the City hosted the first Community Workshop for the new Library via Zoom. This virtual event provided updates on the development process and collected input on various aspects of the Library. A total of 22 participants logged in to the event, which was recorded and is available to view on YouTube. Patrons were encouraged to call and make an appointment to use a computer ahead of time, but if space permitted, walk-ins were accommodated. 91 patrons used the service, primarily for completing online applications and printing. This service was stopped when Ventura County moved back into the purple tier of the stay at home order. In this quarter, the Library experienced a 268% increase in eBook checkouts and a 398% increase in streaming movies, compared to the same period in 2020. The optional Zoom meetings for children and teen programs were dropped due to the lack of participation. Instead, staff focused on prerecorded programs and creating accompanying craft/activity kits. 25 teen kits, 42 Library Board ITEM: ATTACHMENT 02/09/2021 Regular Meeting Page 4 children's, and 40 preschool kits were passed out this quarter. Although the kits do not count towards programming, they have been a great way for us to engage with the community. MINUTES OF THE REGULAR LIBRARY BOARD REGULAR MEETING Moorpark Community Center October 13, 2020 A Regular Meeting of the Library Board of the City of Moorpark was held on October 13, 2020 in the Community Center of said City located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Board Member Goble called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board Member Bumette led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Board Members Banks, Burnett, Marshall, President Pro Tern Mc Dowell and President Goble. . Staff: Jeremy Laurentowski, Parks and Recreation Director; Jessica Sandifer, Community Services Manager; Christine Conwell, Librarian; Kimberly Sexton, Administrative Assistant II. 4. MOTION: Board Member Marshall moved and Board Member Burnett seconded a motion to receive and file the Update on New Library Project and Advisory Role of Board.
