Events and Activities
During the month of October, the Library held a Halloween Candy Bracket to determine
which candy was the best of all time. 64 candies entered the bracket, but only one
would be named supreme on Halloween. There were a total of 171 responses/votes
and several participants asked that we do this again next year!
On December 9, the City hosted the first Community Workshop for the new Library via
Zoom. This virtual event provided updates on the development process and collected
input on various aspects of the Library. A total of 22 participants logged in to the event,
which was recorded and is available to view on YouTube.

General:
To meet the needs of people seeking computer and Internet access, a limited number of
computers inside the Library were made available to the public from October 26 to
December 4. Patrons were encouraged to call and make an appointment to use a
computer ahead of time, but if space permitted, walk-ins were accommodated. 91
patrons used the service, primarily for completing online applications and printing. This
service was stopped when Ventura County moved back into the purple tier of the stay at
home order.

The Library continues to place orders for new physical materials during the closure;
however, we have shifted our spending priorities to focus on the increase in demand for
digital materials. In this quarter, the Library experienced a 268% increase in eBook
checkouts and a 398% increase in streaming movies, compared to the same period in
2020.

count towards programming, they have been a great way for us to engage with the
