This benchmarking survey provides a comprehensive and accurate picture of livability and resident perspectives about local government services, policies and management. Hundreds of communities in nearly every U.S. state conduct The NCS. Our researchers use scientific survey methods and best practices of the modern day to guarantee valid findings and put your results into meaningful context. Results draw from the largest resident opinion database of its kind, representing well over 30 million Americans. The NCS compares local results with benchmarks compiled from surveys conducted across the U.S. The National Community Survey 44 CONNECT WITH RESIDENTS ● MAKE DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™) ●Gold standard for gauging public opinion ●Endorsed by ICMA ●Trusted by hundreds of jurisdictions ●Benchmark to 500+ communities ●Clear, unbiased and accurate results ►Evaluate services ►Enhance communication ►Measure quality of life ► Build trust ►Plan capital investments ► Inform budgeting ►Monitor performance ►Assist strategic planning 10 key facets of community livability: ●Economy ●Mobility ●Community Design ●Natural Environment ●Safety ●Utilities ●Parks and Recreation ●Health and Wellness ●Education, Arts and Culture ●Inclusivity and Engagement 45 Tried and True Survey Tool The NCS was developed by National Research Center (NRC) in 2001 and has since been conducted in over 400 communities across the nation. Adaptable and Evolving The survey is constantly evolving to address relevant issues and needs in the world while also following the most up-to-date methodology. Benchmarks are the compiled answers from all citizen surveys Polco/NRC has conducted which we use to create an average rating for each item on The NCS. This average ratings provides communities a framework through which they can compare their performance on a national and custom level. The Voice of the Average Resident The robust survey methodology and statistical weighting provide communities with the best sample possible – including residents that may be less likely to participate in a council meeting or pick up the phone to let you know what they think.
