CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:43 p.m. by Chair Frank. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Teen Councilmember Gallego. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Vicky Chen, Raquel Frank, Jesse Gallego, Keegan Guyett, Olivia Hernandez, Delilah Sichmeller, Neha Thiyagarajan. Absent: Jonathan Burns, Sawyer Graczyk, Ethan Grosman, Aaron Luekenga, Camilo Magdaleno, Miriam McGregor. Staff Present: Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS: A. Discuss Volunteer Day (4/10/20) Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, informed Teen Councilmembers of the tasks to be completed prior to the annual Easter Egg Hunt event. B. Discuss Participation at Easter Egg Hunt (4/11/20) Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, along with second-year Teen Councilmembers, led an information discussion regarding the Teen Council’s responsibilities at the Easter Egg Hunt event. C. Discuss Participation at Earth Day Festival (4/25/20) Teen Councilmembers discussed potential ways to participate in the Earth Day Festival and encourage other youth to attend. D. Roundtable / Check-in Teen Councilmembers shared comments regarding their activities since the enactment of the Stay-at-Home order. B. Teen Council Recognition at City Council (TBD) Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, informed the Teen Council of the format for the upcoming recognition meeting that would take place via Zoom at a still undetermined date. 6. Welcome and Introductions Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, and Teen Councilmembers shared their names, grade-level, school attending, and one fun fact about themselves. B. Overview of Meeting Rules and Procedures Teen councilmembers read a Brown Act Summary and City Policy 6.7 regarding Teen Council. Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, provided clarification as needed. C. Teen Councilmember Expectations Teen Council discussed meeting frequency. Councilmember Gallego moved and Councilmember Sichmeller seconded a motion to meet monthly (1st Wednesday of each month.) The motion carried 12-0. Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, discussed the responsibilities for Teen Council officer positions, Teen Council Minutes July 1, 2020 Page 2 including: Chair, Co-Chair, Sergeant-at-Arms, and Secretary. D. Consideration of, and Recommendations for, Amendments to Teen Council Policy. Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, provided Teen Council with information regarding potential policy revisions related to Teen Council Policy 6.7. Item 3: (1) recommended number of appointments, (2) boundary requirements, and (3) filling of membership vacancies. Teen Councilmembers provided feedback to staff to include in a future policy recommendation to be considered at a future meeting. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS None. 7.
