at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center public counter located at 4550 Tierra Rejada Road during regular business hours.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:04 p.m. by Chair Thiyagarajan.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Teen Councilmember Sina.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Isobel Coursey, Jesse Gallego, William Gratke, Anishka Jain, Jaynie
Jindarat, Ethan Jones, Shreya Nadkarni, Delilah Sichmeller, Lia Sina,
Neha Thiyagarajan, 011ie Webb.
Absent: Genysia Brown, Sophia Bryson, Aaron Luekenga, Jordyn Washington.
Staff Present: Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS:
A. Teen Cupcake Challenge Event Debrief
Teen Councilmember Nadkarni participated as a judge for the event and shared
details regarding the event and her participation with the Council. Councilmember
Nadkarni enjoyed the event and expressed her desire to volunteer again as a
judge.
B. Discussion of City Council Recognition of Teen Council
Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, shared details with Teen Council
regarding their end-of-term recognition by City Council.
C. Discussion of Improvements to Teen Council for 2021/22
Teen Councilmembers made the following recommendations:
• Encouraged future Teen Councils to finalize their teen activity/event
schedule at the beginning of the term.
• Encourage future Teen Councils to meet bi-weekly and to cancel meetings
only when needed. This recommendation contrasted with Teen Council's
decision at the beginning of the term when they decided to meet monthly
and add meetings only when needed.

• Share Teen Council contact information at the beginning of the term to
improve communication between members when assigned to
subcommittees.
• Consider offering a hybrid in-person and Zoom (online) meeting format.
6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Recreation Supervisor, Michael Ramirez, made an announcement on behalf of the City's
Community Development Department, encouraging Teen Councilmembers to participate
in the General Plan Community Workshop scheduled on Thursday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.
7. CONSENT CALENDAR:
MOTION: Chair Thiyagarajan moved and Teen Councilmember Sina seconded a motion
to approve the Consent Calendar. The motion carried 11-0 (Teen Councilmembers
Bryson and Gallego left the meeting early.)
8. ADJOURNMENT:
Chair Thiyagarajan adjourned the meeting at 5:49 p.m.
