Attachment: Correspondence dated July 6, 2022 Item: 9.C. SUPPLEMENTAL 1 From:Courtney Camarillo To:Moorpark Subject:Comments regarding 7/6 meeting about Title 6 updates Date:Wednesday, July 06, 2022 10:01:53 AM Dear City of Moorpark Council Members and Officials, My name is Courtney Camarillo. I am the Hospital Manager at Arroyo Vista Veterinary Hospital here in Moorpark. We have proudly served the local community for over 17 years. This past Friday, we were notified of your intention to modify the city municipal code regarding rabies vaccination reporting for Veterinarians. While we understand the importance of animal licensing, we do not agree that requiring Veterinarians to report personal information about our clients and their pets is the way to do it. Creating this monthly report would not be completed easily. It would require an individual patient search for over 100 animals that are vaccinated for rabies in our office each month. Our staff has already been spread thin with the increased demand for Veterinary care since the start of the pandemic. We cannot reasonably ask them to add this to their workload, nor could we afford to hire additional staff just for this task. We also believe that this will discourage pet owners from getting rabies vaccinations for their pets in an attempt to avoid having their information shared. If this ordinance must be instated, we ask the following questions: 1.Will the same will be reporting be required for vaccination clinics held at locations such as Theresa’s Country Feed and Pet? 2.How do you plan to obtain this information from us? Via email, hard copy or something else? 3.Will there be a regular day of the month this information will be due? 4.How much time will we have after the end of each month to gather the information? 5.Will we be compensated in any way for our time? 6.Are there fines associated with non-compliance? We ask that our disagreement with this amendment to the municipal code be added to the public comment records and shared at the upcoming City Council meeting this evening, Wednesday June 6th, at 6:30pm.
