What is the Ventura County Wildfire Collaborative? A partnership of agencies in Ventura County whose focus is to build a more wildfire-resilient county. In this $4 million grant, partners in the VCWC will complete 6 priority projects in the next 2 years as a foundational stepping stone for a fire-resilient Ventura County. Funding for this Project provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Fire Prevention Program as part of the California Climate Investments Program. 270 PRIORITY PROJECTS | YEARS 1 & 2 Project 1 Update the Ventura County Community Wildfire Protection Plan Project 2 Countywide Wildfire Education Campaign Project 3 Standardized Home Hardening Program & Hire Liaisons Project 4 Fine-Scale Hazard, Risk, and Vulnerability Mapping Project 5 Wildfire Vulnerability and Evacuation Assessment 42022 | vcrcd.org/vcwc Project 6 California Wildfire Summit 271 20XX 52022 | vcrcd.org/vcwc Townhall & City Discussion Planning Meeting PROJECT 1 & 3 Project 1: Community Wildfire Protection Planning •Identify needs for grant funding opportunities •defensible space, home hardening, fuels mitigation, evacuation, and community education •Create a representative living document •Increase community involvement through inclusive outreach and collaboration Project 3: Home Hardening Standarization •Empowers residents to take proactive action to protect their home's during a wildfire •Informed by latest fire science •Each homeowner receives a report with a roadmap of priority actions to mitigate risk •Homeowners can sign up by visiting VenturaFireSafe.org/Home- Hardening Project Lead: Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council 272 20XX 62022 | vcrcd.org/vcwc Townhall & City Discussion Planning Meeting PROJECT 2 & 6 Project 2: Wildfire Education Campaign •Standardize education •defendable space, wildfire behavior, regulatory changes (local & state), etc.. •Reduce noise •Community meetings •Townhalls, Speaker series, etc. Project 6: CA Wildfire Summit •Diverse group wildfire pros •Collaboration across jurisdictions •Information Sharing •Statewide Project Lead: Ventura County Resource Conservation District 273 PROJECT 4 & 5 #4: Fine-Scale Hazard, Risk, and Vulnerability Mapping and Digital Dashboard •Scalable pilot project •2-year project to develop a suite of fine-scale wildfire hazard, risk, vulnerability, and mitigation data layers •Interactive, online data dashboard •Supports more effective, locally relevant, and sustainable wildfire risk planning for the Ojai Valley #5: Wildfire Vulnerability and Evacuation Assessment •Scalable pilot project •State Coastal Conservancy Grant •2-year project to assess current capacities & vulnerabilities to safely and efficiently protect the Ojai Valley community in the event of catastrophic wildfire event •Assist in developing resilient and adaptive plan for evacuation and/or combined evacuation/shelter-in-place strategy •Provide technical basis for multi-agency planning 20XX Townhall & City Discussions Planning Meeting 7www.vcrcd.org/vcwc Project Lead: Ojai Valley Fire Safe Council 274 WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU?
