MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT TO: Honorable City Council FROM: PJ Gagajena, Assistant City Manager and Interim City Treasurer/Finance Director DATE: 03/01/2023 Regular Meeting SUBJECT: Consider Filling of Administrative Services Director Position BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION On June 15, 2022, the City Council adopted the budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022/23, which includes budgeted positions to be filled. The Administrative Services Director position is a job classification that was not budgeted for in FY 2022/23 but has been filled in prior years and is included on the City’s Classification and Salary Plans, which were most recently approved by the City Council on July 6, 2022. Staff is requesting City Council approval to fill this Administrative Services Director position to manage an existing department within the City on a temporary basis until a vacant department head position can be filled permanently. This position will not oversee any new department and there are no changes to the salary or other compensation in the form of fringe benefits. Upon City Council approval, this position will be effective to be filled on February 27, 2023. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact in filling this Administrative Services Director position as any associated costs will be covered by salary savings of a vacant department head position. Staff cost allocation charges related to this position will be determined by staff. COUNCIL GOAL COMPLIANCE This action does not support a current strategic directive.
